The bombshell report explodes in the face of all Americans.
Lots of opinions are expressed, but there are facts to consider.
The Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, has produced a comprehensive 568-page report after 15 months of investigation.
While many Republicans, Democrats, media commentators and so-called analysts, and other celebrities have rushed to judgement, mostly defending their long-held beliefs regardless what the report says.
The fact remains that the report is specific and it is damming.
Clearly, the big losers are former Director James Comey and the senior leadership of the FBI.
Many on the left gravitated immediately to one statement in the report that said there was no evidentiary evidence of bias by Comey and others, although Comey was “insubordinate.” Yet one doesn’t have to stretch too far to conclude that the bias against President Donald Trump was real, widespread and deliberate.
Throughout the report, references are made about bias and in the case of FBI officials such as Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and unidentified FBI attorneys, it was glaring and discouraging.
Strzok’s email about stopping Trump from becoming president is startling.
The IG Report admitted that the bad judgement of Comey’s boss, the Attorney General herself, Loretta Lynch, gave the perception of bias when she met with Bill Clinton at an airport.
Anyone with “common sense” can see that senior officials in the FBI were intent on preventing candidate Trump from being elected and once elected, efforts switched to setting him up for impeachment.
That is the most devastating concept of all.
Certain top officials of the FBI were working to influence the election and affect the outcome. They tried to prevent a perceived mistake by the “retarded” and “uneducated, poor and middle-class, lazy POS” who would cast their votes for Trump. Their contempt for Trump was deep seated.
At the center of the investigation, of all things, are emails and text messages.
Yes, Hillary’s private email server is the epicenter of a huge mess and yet members of the FBI used emails and text messages that have now verified our worst fears.
Laughable is the notion that while all this craziness was going on about Hillary’s illegal use of thousands of emails, including classified emails, it turns out that Comey was also using his personal email for government business.
With named FBI officials at headquarters focused against Trump before and after the election, it seems incomprehensible that they would write any text messages that demonstrated their complicity and could be used against them.
But they did.
How stupid is this? Can you imagine under these circumstances what was happening about which we will never know?
Trump was right and right from the beginning.
Trump’s instincts said that he and/or his team was being wiretapped or surveilled. That the election was being rigged in many ways, including as described by some, a group or “cabal” in the FBI working against him.
Still, the separate Russian collusion probe continues unabated and unresolved.
But other revelations in the IG Report are mind boggling.
After months of scoffing at the idea that Hillary’s emails must have been hacked, it turns out that not only were they hacked but that foreign intelligence or “hostile actors” and others got access to her emails.
If that isn’t enough to get your head spinning, consider that scores of FBI agents/officials were courted by the media with free gifts and other substantial favors that encouraged a culture of easy leaks to the media.
But wait, there’s more!
Consider the Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe who lied, leaked information and was fired. While we have known that McCabe’s wife received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Hillary’s campaign, we learned that the Assistant Attorney General, Peter Kadzik, who works for McCabe, was trying to get his son a job with Hillary’s campaign.
Worse still, Kadzik was feeding information about Hillary to John Podesta, the Chairman of her campaign.
More, can you believe that when asked why the FBI did not seize phones and other devices in the State Department to investigate emails, the response what that “the culture of mishandling classified information was too pervasive.”
Then the comedic revelation that Comey told the IG team that he did not know Anthony Weiner was married to Huma Abedin, the senior aide to Hillary, who had thousands of Hillary’s emails on both of their laptops.
Remember that we are talking about the FBI, the premier law enforcement agency in the world.
It is hard to believe that senior officials did not politicized the FBI.
My goodness, this “bombshell” has indeed exploded and there will be more casualties beyond the more than dozen of FBI officials fired, demoted or resigned.
America has been wounded badly by personal bias, elitism and cronyism.
Oh, and there is more to come with two more planned reports.
I’m cringing at the thought.
